“Guardians of Time” relates to the idea that since the beginning of time mankind has had protectors, both for historic and mystical reasons. It seems that only man himself is a potential source of danger for his own existence. In his works of art Manfred Kielnhofer deals with the natural human desire for security. Thus his oeuvre reflects genuine exploration, consideration and discussion of current as well as historic moods and sensibilities of his social environment. His works of art captivate with elaborate combinations of light and different technique.Manfred Kielnhofer was born in Haslach an der Mühl, Austria. He is self-taught and works with many different mediums; including, painting, film, photography, installation, performance and sculpture. His work usually concerns the human figure, and its different forms and movements, focusing mainly on the peculiarities of human nature. He uses the human form as a tool, either on a canvas or in a sculpture.

GUARDIAN OF TIME – CHESSUMSETZUNG:Spiel: Garri Kimowitsch Kasparow (weiss) gegen Anatoly Karpov (schwarz)Schachmatt in 6 Zügen 1987 in SevillaGarri Kimowitsch Kasparow ist ein ehemaliger sowjetischer beziehungsweise russischer Schachweltmeister armenischer und jüdischer Abstammung. Er wuchs in Aserbaidschan auf. Kasparow war von 1985 bis 1993 offizieller Weltmeister des Weltschachbundes FIDE. Jeweils 2 T?nzer (je ein P?rchen) ziehen tanzend die letzten 6 Züge der Spieler. Dabei steigert sich der Tanzstil vom klassischen Spitzentanz über Standardtanz hin zu Modern dance und endet im theatralischen Ausdruckstanz. Die Bekleidung der T?nzer h?lt sich an die klassische schwarz-wei? Variante. Mittels Beamer wird diese Liveperformance auf eine Hauswand projiziert, damit das Publikum das Geschehen verfolgen kann. Diese Performance und die beiden weiteren werden aufgenommen und anschlie?end im Studio geschnitten.Die Uraufführung soll in Linz stattfinden. Anschlie?end wird diese Performance in zwei weiteren europ?ischen St?dten aufgeführt werden. Im Anschluss wird das Schachspiel mit dem Videozusammenschnitt in ausgew?hlten St?dten im Rahmen etablierter Lichtfestivals pr?sentiert.Das Schachspiel bleibt w?hrend der Zeit der Performance (mindestens ein Wochenende) installiert und kann ?ffentlich bespielt werden.KURZBESCHREIBUNG:Lebensgro?es Schachspiel mit 32 Skulpturen auf 64 schwarz/wei?en FeldernDie Skulpturen sind aus Polyester und k?nnen mittels Rollen bewegt werden.Um auch das Spielen in den D?mmerungs- und Abendstunden zu erm?glichen, gibt es die ?Guardians of Time“-Lichtedition. Diese sind mit RGB-Innenbeleuchtung ausgestattet.
